FAQ & Answers
What are the risks and complications to my surgery?
There are inherent risks and complications to any procedure you undergo. Nevertheless, you, as the patient need to be completely informed about the procedure which includes the benefits, risks, and alternatives to the planned surgery. Dr. Zoumalan will go over the recommended surgery, and you will ultimately decide if the benefits of the procedure outweigh the risks and complications that may occur. Pain, excessive bleeding, infection, and failure to improve the function and appearance of the orbit and eye are known risks and/or complications that can occur. There are other complications, although rare, that can occur with orbital surgery, all which are specific to your type of diagnosis, and Dr. Zoumalan will go over them with you in detail so you are aware of them.
